Let Your Child Go Wild Day
With Will Lord
£45 per child
A prehistoric survival day designed for children aged 7–16 years, offering a hands-on introduction to the skills our ancestors relied on during the Stone Age. This adventurous and educational day encourages children to explore nature, learn practical survival skills and spend time outdoors away from screens.
Will Lord will demonstrate how people survived using the natural materials available in their environment, just as our ancestors did thousands of years ago when everyday life depended on knowledge of the land.
During the day, children may learn a variety of primitive skills including making simple tools from flint and bone, fire starting, natural cordage making, prehistoric cooking, primitive weapons, foraging and general survival techniques. The day is very much guided by the interests of the group, so if there is something that particularly interests your child they are encouraged to mention it and the instructor will try to incorporate it where possible.
One of the highlights of the day is prehistoric cooking, where children can help prepare food using traditional methods, including butchering wild game with flint tools and cooking it over an open fire.
The day starts at 9:30am and finishes at 3:30pm. Please do not arrive before 9:00am, as this allows time for the team to prepare the site before the day begins.
The course takes place near Barnham on the A134 between Bury St Edmunds and Thetford. Arrive at Barnham crossroads and turn into the village of Barnham. Drive through the village towards Euston, and the gateway will be on the left-hand side approximately half a mile after leaving Barnham. You can also navigate using What3Words:

Children should wear warm outdoor clothing, ideally thermals, as the day takes place outside and it can be cold depending on the weather.
Please bring a packed lunch and snacks for the day. Tea and coffee will be available, and there may also be opportunities to try some wild food during the activities, including venison cooked over the fire as a contribution to lunch.
This course costs £45 per child for ages 7–15, with adult supervision required. Parents may attend free of charge.
The day is run by Will Lord, who has extensive experience teaching primitive survival skills and has assisted Ed Stafford (Walking the Amazon) in preparation for the television series Naked & Marooned.
It’s a full day outdoors designed to give children an unforgettable experience while learning real prehistoric survival skills. Early booking is recommended as these workshops are very popular.
